PressAre you "TOUGH ENOUGH TO WEAR PINK?"Cowboys and Cowgirls from all over the United States will be wearing “PINK” at Doc DeMilly Rodeo Arena in Homestead on Friday night, January 26th, 2007 for our 58th Annual Homestead Championship Rodeo! The Homestead Rodeo Association and our Friday night Performance Sponsor Washington Mutual are proud to participate in the Tough Enough to Wear Pink (TETWP) campaign to raise money to support the fight against breast cancer. TETWP is the brainchild of Terry Wheatley, a breast cancer survivor, and Karl Stressman, Director of Special Events for Wrangler. “Breast cancer has touched us personally. Last year we put our heads together to think of a way we could make a difference and TETWP was born. We weren’t sure we could convince the cowboys to wear pink but, yes, they are tough enough!” “The rodeo community is always ready to reach out to those in need, and supporting the fight against breast cancer is no exception,” says Wheatley. The National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas has participated in the TETWP campaign for the last two years. While pink is not typically associated with the “Super Bowl” of professional rodeo, during one night performance the cowboys, cowgirls, rodeo clowns, announcers, flag girls, sponsors and a sell-out audience of 18,000 were decked out in pink to show support. The reason: to kick off a year long, western industry-wide fundraiser to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research through Tough Enough to Wear Pink—launching in western retailers and at rodeos nationwide throughout 2007. Homestead Rodeo Association along with our sponsors, Washington Mutual, TIB Bank, Spitzer Dodge, Sonny’s, Berry’s Paint, Wallpaper & Flooring, Community Bank, First National Bank of South Florida, Homestead Boats & Trailers, Redland Rib House, Sunset Country & Western, Sunset Feed & Supply and Team Mr. Lift Truck, Inc. are pleased to join this nation-wide fundraiser. During the Rodeo, there will be raffles and TETWP merchandise for sale. We will also be asking for donations for the TETWP program. The proceeds from this program will all be donated to the local chapter of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. If you are unable to attend our event and would like to make a donation, please send a check to Homestead Rodeo Association at P.O. Box 1432, Homestead, Fl 33090. We are striving to make this a huge success! We look forward to participating in this event and hope everyone who attends our Rodeo will help us to turn the arena PINK on Friday night! So please come out and join our Rodeo family in all your Pink finery. ### CONTACTSHow you can help: |
